A Legend Dick van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke is known for his roles in “Bye Bye Birdie”, “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and the television series “Dick Van Dyke Show” and “Diagnosis Murder”.

Dick Van Dyke was born on December 13, 1925 in West Plains, Missouri, USA. His real name is Richard Wayne Van Dyke. He grew up in Danville, Illinois. He was a DJ on a radio in the city of Danville in the early 1940s. In 1947, he formed a comedy duo with a friend named Phil Erickson.

He became a military radio announcer in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.

In the early 1950s, they made a local television program featuring original skits and music. He played in the musical “Bye Bye Birdie” on Broadway from April 14, 1960 to October 7, 1961.

He has hosted many comedy programs on TV. From 1961 to 1966, he appeared on CBS television in a sitcom called “Rob Petrie”. Won three Emmy Awards for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

He did a talk show on a local television from 1971 to 1974.

Dick Van Dyke was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the “Screen Actors Guild Awards” on January 27, 2013.

Dick Van Dyke married Margerie Willett in 1948. After this long separation, they divorced in 1984. They had 4 children named Christian (Chris), Barry, Carrie Beth and Stacy. She then married makeup artist Arlene Silver on February 29, 2012.
